Very strange findings by German psychologist! Well, i only know that smile helps in uplifting your mood and I remember my eldes telling me’Keep Smiling’ when i was a kid.Imagine doing crazy things that makes you laugh. Indeed the feeling of seeing someone smiling at you is also great.

As a matter of fact, after reading the article, something amazing happened u know ! I FELL INTO A FIST OF LAUGHTER !!!!
I mean it defy’s logic to know that smiling can be harmful. Never heard this kind of weird findings and i think the laughter clubs all over the world would have to shut down their shutters, if they go by what has been said in the article !

Smiling and laughter are the best medicines for one’s physical and mental health. However this article is talking about something called emotional labour that is victimizing people in the hospitality industry. In this people have to wear artifical or plastic smiles in front of their clients even though they feel the opposite from within.
Given that all of us have mood variations i.e happiness sadness, anger and a host of other emotions, the hospitality staff like air-hostesses, hotel receptionists etc. have to force a smile on their faces even though they are not exaclty feeling that way and this can lead to physical and mental health hazards.

I agree with Bijoy. Even I was amused for quite a sometime. I laugh and smile a lot, to a extent that my friends sometimes get irritated by my sudden outbursts of laughter. Well, if I go by this study, I might end up losing myself to depression, et all. Lets hope that this is everything but true!
